Is it possible to disable GPS in phones?
I mean actually disable it like disassemble the phone and disconnect it on the circuit board and not just in the options menu which will disable it for you and apps but not for those who want to know your location (like Google or such).

Bernd 06/28/2017 (Wed) 20:15:42 [Preview] No. 8515 del
It is possible if GPS is separate on board, although it may broke without it. Better to replace with identical dummy module. You also can try to cheat and make some dummy software that would give fake coordinates, and evil google and Russian hackers would trust it.

But it is all meaningless shit, mate. You can be tracked by cellular network. It isn't very precise, but working. You also can be tracked by wifi, even if it is your wifi - some people and organizations do wifi maps in cities.

You have nowhere to run. It is the end.

I knew it! If you need real useful info a Russian can give you one.
What can be GPS integrated into? CPU, Bluetooth, Wifi?
Yeah I know about triangulation that's how older non-smart phones were tracked in need. Here we had some law about the period of time the providers had to keep the data and how the data can be acquired by anyone and such. However what's the thingy they track? The receiver's movement in the network? I dunno much about this.
Since when they equip phones with GPS btw?
>wifi
If it's connecting to wifis.

>What can be GPS integrated into? CPU, Bluetooth, Wifi?

It can be integrated in one big chip that you couldn't remove easily. Although chip often placed near, but I guess all thing will broke if you just remove one part.

>However what's the thingy they track? The receiver's movement in the network? I dunno much about this.

They can easily find network cell where your phone is located and record your movement between cells, no triangulation is needed, you phone registers by itself. It is pretty easy even to store, so they do it for years, police can ask them if they want. It has bad precision (few km, depends of network density), but it is something.

Overall, everything depends of what you want to achieve, what you want to hide etc.

Bernd 06/29/2017 (Thu) 10:51:08 [Preview] No. 8530 del
Even if you did, they'd still know where you are through triangulation
>he's 1 mile away from this tower, 200 feet from this tower and half a mile away from this one
>therefore he should be right here
This is how they were able to track people's location before GPS

There are technologies to do cuts even on high-pressure pipelines, and it isn't actually hard (but dangerous of course). First they put metallic camera on pipe, then remove pipe surface below etc. People do it for years.

And by doing it they cause a lot of unnecessary oil spills. Usually locals just blame the big industry (Shell) for destroying their lands, dindu nuffin, but considering the frequency of spills there I'm sure locals tampering with the pipelines has something to do with it...
